Antique medical real human skull with great colour and patina.

This skull has a really nice deep colour and patina that can only be gained over very many years of use and handling. Given this colour and patina, and the style of the brass hooks, I would estimate that this skull was prepared in the very early 20th Century.

As you can see from the photos, one of the nasal bones is missing, as are the springs that articulate the jaw. There are eleven and a half teeth still in the jaws although many of the teeth were lost pre-mortem as the jaws have healed over. Oddy enough, the teeth that are remaining are in really good condition showing very little wear.

There is a piece of the left parietal missing above the temporal and one of the small wormian bones is missing on the lambdoid suture. This skull is quite unusual having four Wormian bones on the suture.

There are a number of annotations on the base of the skull showing muscle attachment locations.
