Antique real human jawbone, mandible medical specimen.

Here is a medically prepared real human jawbone. This example was in a collection of bones from a family of doctors and have been passed down through the generations.

This example has 10 teeth remaining in the mandible although it looks like only 2 have been lost since the mandible was prepared as most of the molars would have been lost a long time pre-mortem as the jaw has healed over since.

The springs that would have articulated it with the skull have also disappeared but the holes through which the wire would have passed are visible.

This jaw has a nice colour and patina which suggests that it is an old example.
